What’s new in Office 365 this June?

Updated “Site Contents” page begins rollout into #SharePoint Online (First Release)

On June 1, 2016 Microsoft announced that SharePoint team is refreshing the SharePoint Online site contents page – a ‘behind the scenes’ page per site that helps site owners, members and visitors better understand the activities occurring within their site. This page retains previous value to work with and manage site content, and has been redesigned to provide visibility on site activity and top-viewed content, along with an easier to navigate site map, user tips and clearer access to add lists, document libraries, subsites and apps.

Video Channels & Videos on SharePoint Home

On June 1, 2016 Microsoft announced that the new SharePoint Home activity (replacement for the sites page) is now enabled for all First Release customers. Video channels and videos show up on SharePoint Home alongside SharePoint sites, O365 Groups, and files. As you view videos or as others near you view videos, video channels will start to show up in the “Frequent” section at the top of SharePoint home. 

The new SharePoint home experience is on for 100% of First Release

Microsoft confirmed that the flights have been turned on for 100% of First Release tenants for the new SharePoint home experience. If you are not seeing it and you are a first release customer (not select release).

SQL Server Data Tools GA update for June 2016

The SQL Server Data Tools team is announced an update for SSDT General Availability (GA) on June 1, 2016. All versions of SQL now include Power BI. 

New hybrid Cloud search in Office 365 and SharePoint 2016

What information is stored in the Office 365 index of the crawled On-Premise Content? And is the index encrypted? Search is now going across all of Office365. Exciting.
